What skills will my child learn in gymnastics?
It will depend on their age and level of class they are enrolled in.
- Parent and Me – Ages 18 months to 3 years old
These classes are focused on movement education, which includes pulling, hanging, pushing, jumping, rolling, and swinging.
- Pre-Recreational Gymnastics – Ages 3 to 6
These classes teach kids basic gymnastics movements like tumbling, balancing, and safe landings.
- Recreational Gymnastics – Ages 6-12
Kids in our recreational classes learn formal skills on all our gymnastics apparatus—all at their own pace. They’ll work on assisted handstands, single-rail bar work, balance beam, trampoline, tumble track, and much more.
Can adults do gymnastics?
Definitely. The Cave has three 2-hour adult gymnastics classes every week, plus an hour-long tumbling class on Saturdays.
Does The Cave have a Competitive Gymnastics Team?
Yes. The Cave’s USAG-registered Level 3+ competitive gymnastics team competes in major competitions in California, based on our team members’ particular levels. Membership on our team is by coach invitation only after gymnasts enter Level 3.
My kids aren’t old enough to start parkour. Should they do gymnastics?
Yes. Gymnastics is a great precursor to parkour, as it provides a base of strength and mobility that will translate to parkour once your kids are old enough.
Do I have to sit around while watching my kids do gymnastics?
No. As long as your kids can independently use the restroom, you can either drop them off or spend the time working out on our CrossFit floor. Most of our CrossFit classes run concurrent to our gymnastics classes for that reason. We like to make fitness a family thing!
How does my child level up?
Each student receives a skills sheet based on his or her level. Once the student has mastered the majority of the skills on the sheet, he or she will be eligible to move to the next level, pending the coach’s review and approval.
How much do gymnastics classes cost?
Our month-to-month enrollment costs vary per age group and program. Please see our pricing table for more information.
Can I do a drop-in class and try your program out?
Yes, space permitting. If you have never been to The Cave and would like to try out a class, we allow one paid drop-in. All drop-ins must be scheduled at least 2 days ahead of time with our office staff. If you decide you would like to enroll after the scheduled drop in, you must let our office staff know immediately following the class (otherwise, that particular class space will open back up to other interested clients).
Can I do a make-up class if I miss my regularly scheduled class?
We are unable to accommodate make-up classes due to the high demand for our program. We simply don’t have open class space to schedule them. To account for the classes you may occasionally miss, we base our monthly pricing on four classes per month despite some months within the year allotting for five classes. These “free” classes in effect provide you with built-in make-up opportunities.
What do I need to do to unenroll from a class?
The Cave requires two weeks’ written notice in order to unenroll from a class. Full prorates will be issued for any classes in the month that fall after the two-week period. Prorates that occur after billing has run for a month become credit on your Cave account.
I’m going on vacation. Can I get credit for my missed classes?
If you know you will be away you can release a class spot through the Members Area on our website and if the class spot is claimed you will receive a credit on your invoice. Any number of future dates can be released in this manner, but dates in which The Cave is closed can not be claimed.
Do you offer any special discounts?
The Cave offers an assortment of 25% discounts for family members, full-time college students, teachers, active duty firefighters, military members, and law enforcement officers. Highest discounts apply, however, and they cannot be stacked.
