2025 Mas Watanabe Invite Results
The weekend of February 7-9 our men’s team headed to Elk Grove for the Mas Watanabe Invitational. This was a great meet featuring many of the top gyms in Northern California. It gave our team a good sense of the competition they will be facing at state championships coming up at the end of February.
Senai H. (level 3) hit a solid ring routine earning him 3rd place.
Nicco B. (level 7) 2nd rings, 1st high bar
Aiden Z. (level 7) 1st pommel horse, 2nd rings, 3rd parallel bars.
Teo C. (level 7) 2nd rings, 1st vault, 3rd all around
If you look at the level 7s above you will note that, yes, our boys were in a 3 way tie for second place on rings.
An interesting not about pommel horse for our level 7 athletes is that the level 6 to level 7 transition is very difficult. They move from competing on a horse with no pommels, to a horse with pommels. This completely changes the event, so athletes have to develop entirely new skillsets to compete. At the beginning of the season our athletes were happy to simply make it through a routine without falling off. For Aiden to take first place at a meet is fantastic!
