2025 Men’s Region 1 Championship Results

This year’s region 1 championships were in Ontario Califorina, so our team headed down south. Our level 7 athletes competed on Thursday April 3rd, with our lone level 4 athlete competing Sunday April 6th. Region 1 encompasses Hawaii, Northern California, Southern California (yes California has enough athletes that it has been divided into two distinct “states” for the sake of gymnastics competition), Nevada, Arizona. Region 1 is one of the stronger regions in the country and Northern California is one of the stronger states in the region. Our athletes are regularly competing against many of the top athletes in the country.

The boys had a fantastic meet with all boys setting personal best all around scores. This is a particularly signficant achievment given that judging tends to be more strict at championship level meets.

Aiden Z. hit a fantastic vault to become regional champion on vault with an 11.25. He also took 3rd on Pommel horse with an 11.0. He finished 7th all around. View a video of his vault.

Teo C. ranked 6th on pommel horse with a 10.75. We are really pleased with the boy’s performances on pommel horse as we entered the season knowing pommel horse was going to be a struggle for the team just to be hitting their routines, so for them to be ranking at championship meets on this event is fantastic.

Jasper D. was consisted through his routines, not excelling on any one event, but finishing in a respectable 19th all around, out of 127 athletes.

Nicco B. finished 4th on rings with a 11.5.

The meet was concluded for The Cave in the final session Sunday with Maxwell D. our lone level 4. He hit a solid pommel horse routine to score 9.7 and secure 5th place. He was only 0.05 off of the podium. Sometimes this sport is a matter of fractions of fractions of a point. This was a great redemption for Max after a fall on pommels at state championships kept him off the podium for the all around.
